Maurice Regalado

I consider my work in education my greatest opportunity to positively
impact social issues and to create a more just, equitable, and even
enjoyable society. I want to live in a world where compassion resides,
intellectual curiosity abounds, and our basic “unalienable rights” are
authentically lived, in every sense, by every one of us. I imagine the impact
of schools evolving to ultimately graduate students who know their worth,
responsibility to the greater community, and in possession of the intellect
and skills necessary to implement change and lead their greatest lives.
To that end, I have deeply contemplated over the course of my career, what
conditions in my class must be present for all students to reach their
highest potential, as well as my responsibility as their teacher to see
through their successful and consistent implementation.
As a result, I will strive to leverage:
● Our innate desire to be part of something meaningful
● Transparent and consistent communication
● Positivity and hope
● Modeling what I would expect of my students
● Compassion and understanding
● Our shared humanity
But this work is too important for any one person to challenge alone. It is for
that reason that I am so grateful to be part of such a supportive and
committed learning community like we have here at Evergreen High
School. Together, I truly believe we can make this world a better place for
us all.
